On our recent day-trip to Thiès, we stopped at a little restaurant downtown. Of course, when in Senegal, you never pass up the opportunity to use privately owned restrooms, such as those in restaurants, hotels, etc… Unless you prefer peeing in a hole in the ground. But hey, who am I to judge?

Anyway, this restaurant’s bathroom featured quite a unique multicultural toilet. Take a look…

Multicultural toilet

What’s your pleasure?

  • You can stand/hover/squat or add a toilet seat if you’d like. (You’ll find one hanging on the wall for your convenience.)
  • You can use TP (double-ply, if you prefer) or you can use the water to wash.
  • You can pull to flush or you can use the bucket of water.

Personally, I’ve never seen a toilet in the US or Europe that catered to so many cultures. Pretty fancy, eh?
